Welcome to Ry Cooder Appreciation Society - Ry Cooder
  Introduction / Requests
WELCOME TO MY "RY COODER APPRECIATION SOCIETY" WEBSITE!
My name is Tjerk Snik and I live in The Netherlands.
September 2009 I started building this website.
Why? Because of my deepest "appreciation" for the music of Ry Cooder. I hope to share the "Ry Cooder appreciation" with a lot of other Ry Cooder adepts from all over the world. I know there are a lot of them.
I am a Ry Cooder adept and collector since 1970. The first time I heard the music of Ry Cooder, it was love at first "hearing". It never stopped since that moment.
I visited a lot of Ry Cooder shows here in The Netherlands. The last Ry Cooder shows I visit was the Ry Cooder & Nick Lowe "They Drive By Night" tour at the Carré Theatre in Amsterdam, June 19 2009 and Queen Elisabeth Hall, Antwerp Belgium, June 21 2009. It was superb!!!

Thank you in advance! Please help me out!

---------------
Ry Cooder & David Lindley played at the Midtfyn Festival Ringe Denmark July 6 1995. Is there anyone out there who has information about the complete setlist and/or is there someone out there who has this show recorded on tape, CDR, video? If so, are you in for a trade?

---------------
Back in 1969 Cajun Fiddler Doug Kershaw played a gig at the "Troubadour" in Hollywood, with Ry Cooder in the band, playing guitar.
Is there anyone out there who has information about this gig, setlist, band members and/or is there someone out there who has this show recorded? If so, are you in for a trade?

---------------
Back in 1976, December 17, Ry Cooder played at the "Arlington Theatre", Santa Barbara CA. If I'm well informed, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee opend for Ry Cooder.
Is there anyone out there who has information about the this gig, setlist, band members and/or is there someone out there who has this show recorded? If so, are you in for a trade?

Frank Frost and Ry Cooder where doing some recording for the Crossroads film and he and Ry Cooder played a few places. Ry says he has over 20 hrs of studio recordings with Frank of which almost none made the final soundtrack. I sure wish I had a copy of any live shows with the both of them. I heard specifically of a McCabe's show they did, but there were a lot of these one off's that Ry did in the 80's.
Does anybody does have more information and knows if there are recordings of this performances available? If so, is there a change for a trade??

---------------
I heard that Ry Cooder's "JAZZ" and "The Buena Vista Social Club" where once available as DVDaudio. I did'nt know about that fact. For JAZZ I don't know. Recently I received the BVSC DVDaudio in a trade. Excellent!
As a collector I do have a request: Does anybody knows if JAZZ excist as DVDaudio or have some more info about it? Is there someone who have JAZZ as an DVDaudio and want to sell it or trade?? Please contact me.

Lancelot Victor Pinard, who under the name "Sir Lancelot" was a significant figure in introducing calypso music to American audiences, died March 12, 2001 in Anaheim. He was 98.
Accompanying himself on guitar and singing old-time calypso tunes like "Rum and Coca-Cola," "Mary Ann" and "Take Me, Take Me," Pinard offered lively performances to packed houses at venues around Southern California in the 1940s and '50s.
He emerged briefly in the 1980s, performing locally at "McCabe's Guitar Shop" with a band composed of some legendary figures in the L.A. music scene: Van Dyke Parks on piano, Ry Cooder on guitar and Jim Keltner on drums.
Does anybody having more infromation and knows if there are recordings of this performances available? If so, is there a change for a trade??

November 29 2008 the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium hosted Jackson Browne and Friends, a special benefit concert to support hurricane relief in Cuba, Haiti and USA gulf coast. Browne appears with an array of special guests, including such musicians as Bonnie Raitt, Ry Cooder, Joan Baez, Ben Harper and The Relentless 7.
Does anybody have any information or a review about this concert and about the participation of Ry Cooder? Does anybody know if there is a recording of this concert available? If so, is there a change for a trade??

Does anybody have any information about this Monterrey gig and about the participation of Ry Cooder?
Brad solved this mystery. See "Ry Cooder Live news/Ry Cooder gig reviews" page.

Eric Clapton, The Centrum Worcester, Mass. March 1, 1983.
Opening act Ry Cooder, who plays slide guitar on Clapton's new album, Money And Cigarettes, did not join him on stage but still drew accolades with his own skilled set. Ry opens about 20 shows for EC in 1983. Backed by four pieces and two singers, Cooder artfully teamed blues, R&B and gospel styles, though he's better off in a more intimate venue.
