The object of this site is to provide flood information and advice for the residents of Aylesford.
While flooding is not a regular occurrence, it is as well to be prepared.
Aylesford is at separate risk of flooding from both the River Medway and the Aylesford Stream.
The River Medway defences protecting the central village were designed to resist a 1 in 250 year flood event.
There is currently no protection from the Aylesford Stream and the frequency of flood events is about once in every ten years.
Subsequent to the flooding of the Aylesford Stream on 9th February 2009 (when many houses in Rochester Road and Bush Row were affected), the provision of a permanent defence is now a priority - of The Environment Agency, Tonbridge And Malling Borough Council, Aylesford Parish Council and, not least, residents.
The stream previously flooded in 2001.
